The Nursery St. Peter's FAQ's
Q) What are the Nursery's opening hours?
A) The Nursery is open between 7am and 7pm.
Q) Is the Nursery open all year round?
A) The Nursery is open 51 weeks of the year and the only time we close is during the period between Christmas and New Year and public bank holidays.
Q) Do I need to make an appointment to look around?
A) No the Nursery has an open door policy so you are welcome to visit at anytime. We do suggest that you don't come between 12pm and 2pm as many of the children are sleeping, the lights are low and you won't see the nursery fully operational.
Q) What are the ratios of adult to children?
A) The Ofsted recommended ratio in the baby rooms (under 2's) is 1:3, the toddler room 1:4and the Pre-school room is 1:8. However, at the nursery we operate with a higher ratio of adults to children which enables us to maintain our reputation of providing high quality early years provision.
Q) What qualifications do the nursery staff hold?
A) Our staff hold various childcare qualifications such as NNEB, NVQ childcare and education level 2 or 3, B Tech in Nursery Nursing, First Aid, Child protection, Equal Opportunities, Additional Educational Needs, Management training, Early Years degrees and Early Years Professional Status.
Q) How do I register my child for a place at the Nursery?
A) Please complete and return the Nursery registration form which can be downloaded here.
Q) Do you have a settling in period?
A) Yes we have a weeks settling in period but we are very flexible and some parents like to do this over a longer period. This settling in week is to ensure your child is fully relaxed and happy in their new environment, and happy and relaxed with their new carers. The settling in week is charged at a 50% rate e.g. if your child is attending 5 days a week you will be charged for 2.5 days.
Q) My child is rising 3 are they entitled to receive the Nursery Education funding?
A) Yes children are eligible for the 15 hours of Nursery Education funding the school term after their 3rd birthday. Please speak to one of the management team for further information.
